The Holy Island...

Lindisfarne is a small island off the coast of Northumberland on the northeast coast of England, and is also known as Holy Island.  With a history dating back to at least the 6th Century, it was for many years an important centre of Celtic Christianity.

The island covers about 1000 acres (at high tide), and has a current population of about 200.  It is a wonderful place (although I have never been there), and is home to a number of interesting buildings and structures structures, including a castle, a priory, and two lighthouses.  Here is a superb photo gallery.

Enjoy!
