The Yorkshire Dales is a region of outstanding natural beauty. It is basically a an area of hills and river valleys, and is home to one of Britain's most popular National Parks. In addition to the hills and valleys, there are also a number of spectacular cave systems,
Although the Yorkshire Dales National Park is large (some 680 square miles), the best way to explore is on foot, or by bicycle. The main towns in the area are Skipton and Richmond, but there are a number of small, and very picturesque, towns dotted around The Dales. If the lure of a major city like London doesn't appeal to you, I would definitely recommend a trip up north if you can make it.
