Music of the mid-70's...

I don't know why, but trying to think what to post today, this suddenly came to me...  Seeing that this is the first month of the year, it seemed an appropriate time to post the song January by Pilot.  That just led to include a  couple of other vids from that time.

Pilot were a pop band from Edinburgh, formed in 1973.  Although not hugely successful, they did have two major hits in the UK Charts : Magic, which got to No. 11 in 1974, and the chart-topping January from the following year.

Another band from that era were Arrows, an Anglo-American trio (vocalist Alan Merrill was born in the Bronx).  Their biggest hit was Touch Too Much (1974), although American audiences will be more familiar with I Love Rock 'n' Roll, which was to become a classic for Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

My final offering is from The Rubettes.  A little more durable than the previous two bands, The Rubettes had eight Top 40 entries between 1974 and 1977, including four songs that broke into the Top 10.  Here is Juke Box Jive, which reached No. 3 in November 1974.
