If I Had a Hammer...

No, this post is not going to be about the popular - if a little cheesy - even though though I do adore the lovely recording by the recently deceased Leonard Nimoy.  Today being Friday 13th, I thought it would be a very apt time to have a look at one of the truly great names in movie history...

Founded in 1934, Hammer Film Productions have released over 160 films.  However, they are best known for one particular genre - horror!  While they represent less than a third of Hammer's entire catalogue, it is the very gothic - and exceedingly British - horror tales that have made them a household name in the UK.  In particular, there are two legendary horror characters that not only gave them their greatest successes, but also threw two wonderful actors into the limelight.

The characters were Baron Victor Frankenstein and Count Dracula, and the actors, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee!
