Up North...

I am back online now after my brief hiatus, and will be posting regularly again.  We start back with some wonderful photos from the North of England.

While recently perusing pictures on Flickr, I came across a fabulous photostream by a young lady called Alison Christine.  Alison has put together a great collection of pictures from her trips, and here are a few of them.  Enjoy!

Appletreewick, Yorkshire Dales
A typically beautiful Yorkshire village, Appletreewick has the great honour of being named as 
"England's Friendliest Village".

The Druid's Writing Desk, North Yorkshire
The "Druid's Writing Desk" is a unique rock formation found at Brimham Rocks,
near the village of Nidderdale in North Yorkshire.

Lindisfarne Castle
Lindisfarne Castle is a 16th Century castle located on Holy Island, off the coast
of Northumberland.  The island is accessible by from the mainland at low tide.

Wycoller Hall, Lancashire
Wycoller Hall is a 16th Century manor house in the Lancashire Villageof Wycoller,
and is believed to be the inspiration for Ferndean Manor in the novel Jane Eyre.  The ruins now
form part of Wycoller Country Park.

Gayle Beck, Yorkshire Dales
A beck is a small stream or creek.  Gayle Beck runs through the village of Hawes, which is
best know for being the home of Wensleydale cheese.
