Some Random Photos...

Last week, I posted some photos of famous graves I have visited over the years.  Today, I will share a few other pics I have taken on trips back to England.  You may be able to detect that photography is something of a hobby of mine!

London

St. Paul's Cathedral / The Young Lovers

Just to the east of St. Paul's Cathedral, you will find a small park, the Festival Gardens.  Here you will find the statue of The Young Lovers, by Swiss sculptor George Erlich (1897-1966).  The statue was erected in 1973.

Hull

War Memorials

Opposite Hull railway station are two separate war memorials.  The photograph above shows them both, although you may not be able to immediately identify the one at the rear.  The statue of the two soldiers commemorates the 27 men of Hull who lost their lives during the South African Boer War (1899-1902), while the large block at the rear is a memorial to the two World Wars.

Longford Village, Middlesex

The White Horse pub

Just a couple of minutes from Heathrow Airport, The White Horse was built as a smokehouse, but has been a pub since 1601!  The main building is original.

Bridlington

Bridlington Harbour

Well, it's not so much a photo of Bridlington Harbour, as it is a photo of a herring gull perched on a wall at Bridlington Harbour!

London

Big Ben (Westminster Palace)

"Westminster Palace?",  Okay, the correct name for the building that contains the Houses of Parliament is Westminster Palace.  Also, Big Ben is the name of neither the clock, nor the tower housing the clock; Big Ben is actually the name of the bell.
