F.A. Cup First Round...

I have made a number of previous posts regarding the Football Pyramid, and non-league clubs in England and Wales.  This last weekend (including one game tonight) saw the first round - or first round proper, as it is often called - of the F.A.Cup.  This is where the thirty-two remaining non-league sides (after all the preliminary and qualifying rounds have been completed) join the forty-eight clubs from the lower two tiers of the Football League.

Here are the thirty-two teams who survived, along with their current league status and Football Pyramid level (the top four levels of the Pyramid are the Football League levels).

Of these thirty-two teams, fifteen non-league have made the draw for the second round.

The following five teams all defeated Football League clubs (in brackets)

Forest Green Rovers (AFC Wimbledon)
Salford City (Notts County)

The following teams defeated non-league opposition.

The following sides await a replay to confirm their inclusion in the second round (Boreham Wood and Northwich Victoria face each other, so at least one of the six is guaranteed a spot)..

In the second round, Stourbridge and Eastleigh are drawn together, so one non-league side will be included in the third round draw.  Should Aldershot beat Bradford City in their replay, they will be at home to Chesham Utd (guaranteeing another place).  Should Braintree beat Oxford Utd in their replay, they are drawn against Forest Green Rovers, thus guaranteeing another non-league team in the third round.
