Roll Away the Stone...

We are only halfway through the first month of the year, and we have already said goodbye to a number of legendary rock musicians from a fabulous era.  The latest is Dale Griffin, drummer for Mott the Hoople.  He was 67.

Not as commercially successful as other bands of the Glam Rock era of the early 1970's, Mott the Hoople relied on a little more substance to their music than their counterparts.  Written by David Bowie, All the Young Dudes was the group's biggest hit, reaching Number 3 in 1972.  The following year, Roll Away the Stone and All the Way from Memphis peaked at Numbers 8 and 10 respectively.
