Not as commercially successful as other bands of the Glam Rock era of the early 1970's, Mott the Hoople relied on a little more substance to their music than their counterparts. Written by David Bowie, All the Young Dudes was the group's biggest hit, reaching Number 3 in 1972. The following year, Roll Away the Stone and All the Way from Memphis peaked at Numbers 8 and 10 respectively.
