On This Day - 10th November...

I haven't done this in a while, so I thought it was time again to celebrate the day.  Here are some births and deaths of famous Britons, and some historical events.
BIRTHS

John Bevis (b. 1695)
English astronomer and doctor. Bevis discovered the Crab Nebula in the constellation of Taurus.

William Hogarth (b. 1697)
English painter and cartoonist,

Claude Rains (b. 1889)
English actor.  Perhaps best known for his roles in The Invisible Man, Phantom of the Opera, and Casablanca.

Richard Burton (b. 1925)
Welsh stage and cinema actor.  Star of Becket and Equus, Burton was nominated six times for an Academy Award for Best Actor.

DEATHS

Sir Gordon Richards (d. 1986)
English jockey.  Often considered the world's greatest-ever jockey, Richards was knighted in 1953.

Eric Day (d. 2012)
English footballer.  Made 398 appearances for Southampton (his only Football League club), scoring 147 goals.

EVENTS

1871
Henry Stanley finds the missing explorer and missionary Dr David Livingstone, uttering the famous words, "Doctor Livingstone, I presume?"

1907
An explosion at the Seven Sisters Colliery in the Dulais Valley, South Wales, claimed the lives of five miners/

1960
Francis "Flossie" Forsyth (18) and Norman Harris (23) were executed for the murder of Alan Jee the previous June.  Forsyth was hanged at Wandsworth Prison, with Harris suffering the same fate at Pentonville Prison.
