There have been no major British mining disasters on 10th April, but there have been a number of accidents in which lives have been lost. Here are some that have occurred in Scottish mines...
In each of the accidents listed, one miner perished.
1863 - Hurlford Colliery, Kilmarnock (Roof collapse)
1874 - Shawfield Colliery, Law (Roof collapse)
1926 - Riddochhill Colliery, Bathgate (Roof collapse)
1928 - Cadzow Colliery, Hamilton (Roof collapse)
1958 - Comrie Colliery, Fife (Struck by hutches)
1986 - Bilston Glen Colliery, Loanhead
